The Urban Foundation was founded by “First Church,” and together with First Church, co-founded Kid City in 2009. The church and the foundation continue to partner on the Kid City program, share offices, and work together in a variety of ways. We are grateful for the leadership of First Church in building and supporting our downtown urban community.
First United Methodist Church of Los Angeles also founded 1010 Development Corporation, which builds and operates affordable, multi-family and senior housing right on the former church site. 1010 provides Kid City with program space at Hope Village, where many Kid City kids live, and meeting space at Villa Flores senior housing right next door.
