Jazz for the Soul at Holman UMC

IMG_0031_2.jpgThe Kid City Band is excited to return for another night at Holman’s Jazz for the Soul.  The band is composed of high school students from downtown LA and near by neighborhoods.  We meet once a week on Saturdays to learn a wide repertoire of music including jazz, pop and rock. To date, the Kid City band has performed at the House of Blues, Splash Of LA, First United Methodist Church of Pasadena, and at their fall and spring recitals. Kid City, also offers private lessons for beginning and advance students on a number of instruments including strings, winds, piano, guitar, bass and drums.

Band leader and music instructor David Catalan, is a versatile woodwind player, composer, arranger and educator located in Southern California. David has worked with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the Ralph Carmichael Big Band, Sammy Nestico, the Cab Calloway Orchestra, as well as at numerous regional theaters including Musical Theatre West, McCoy Rigby Entertainment,  Lewis Family Playhouse, Fullerton Civic Light Opera and 3D Theatricals. David holds a bachelors degree in music education from Azusa Pacific University and currently teaches at Oak Avenue Intermediate School, Los Alamitos High School and Kid City Hope Place.
