Summer Showcase 2019

Gueset_Speaker_Spotlight-_Alma_Catalan.pngThis is going to be a great event! Alma Catalan, formerly Kid City's champion of the arts and artists, recently received her Master of Arts in Arts Management from Claremont Graduate University's Drucker School of Arts Management. One of Alma's pursuits as a staff member at Kid City was the equitable access to creative venues for students who are aspiring artists in all mediums--from theater to photography. Alma will present her research findings on the impact of an arts education on first-generation students.

Guest_Speaker_Spotlight_-_Amber_Bradley.pngDr. Amber Bradley is the Assistant Director of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Initiatives at the University of Southern California. As a former advisor for programs like TriO, Dr. Bradley recognizes the importance of college access programs that center the needs of first-generation, low-income college students in their paths to higher education. Through her research, Dr. Bradley explored how an organization such as Kid City contributes to first-gen, low-income students of color’s preparation for college, their sense of belonging and spirituality, and persistence through college.

We will also be celebrating Kid City alumni who are heading out to graduate school, including Alma Ventura, Frances Melchor, Jason Granados, and of course, Laura Cuellar! Please RSVP today!
